TEMBO HOTEL

History: Buliding has functioned in many ways over the year from 1834 it served as the AmericanConsulate Standing right in the hub of the Slave Trading are and witnessing the most evenfull half century of Zanzibars. History in 1884 it become the Premises of Cowajee Dinshaw and brothers one of the most famous Trading Tursk for Loyds the Companies in Western Indian Ocean of ots time whos name still adonors the original entrace.

The Tembo has many Intresting historical neighbours just next door is the former British Consulate where Dr. Livingstone's body was brought in 1874 during the epic journey from deapest Africa back to England. In 1930 Mahatma Gandhi left South Africa 1930 and came to Zanzibar and stay in this Building with Cowajee Dinshaw Brother for few weeks. The building was isolated for long period of time and many local fisherman / residence were occupying the building until 1990. In 1994 the Building converted in Exclusive four (4) Star Hotel
