With over 30 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industries, Safina uniquely offers the first-hand experience of its leadership.

Our managing director, Ambassador Dr. Moh’d Juma Abdalla, started working at the hotel in 1996. He worked as an English and French-speaking tour guide for several companies in Zanzibar and Tanzania. Dr Abdalla holds a PhD in tourism management and is an active researcher on tourism and hospitality-related issues.

He is currently the United Republic of Tanzania Ambassador accredited to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has widely published in reputable international journals, including the Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing, Current Issues in Tourism, Tourism Management Perspectives, and International Journal of Tourism Research, to mention only a few.

He published impactful works, some of which have contributed exponentially to revolutionary changes in government policy. For instance, his research on informal actors in tourism has enhanced government and public awareness of the dark side of informality in tourism.
